Portlandia is one of my favorite TV shows. While other character based shows (enter Kroll Show) are based on over-trodden stereotypes and tired generalizations, Portlandia seems to give real insight into culture. Especially young and hip culture. I just can’t get enough really.

Only a few short months/weeks away.
Very Little Words Needed.
So guys Olympics this week! I haven’t been this excited for a trans-continental sporting event since.. the World Cup (well EU cup as well but with no USA it doesn’t count)!!
So we are having a contest for the Olympics! Send in your videos, pictures, stories about the Olympics (and obviously street art / art of some kind) to our email address ( email@example.com ) and we will post things each week until the end of the games. The winners each week will get Ives Street T-Shirts (still in design) so make sure to include a mailing address in your email.
Just so you guys get into the spirit, here is a video to get you all pumped up. Dude, Perfect.
After the break.
It was 10:00 at night, on a Thursday – in Downtown LA. If that doesn’t already reflect the obscurity and somewhat sketchiness I felt as I got out of my car that night, maybe it would help to know I was parked on an empty street with trash littered everywhere, homeless people spelunking, and a wafting smell of urine. The entrance to the gallery looked like what I had seen of crack houses from The Wire- with a few leather clad hipsters posted outside.
Not wanting to bother them from their cigarettes, I walked in and was assaulted by a noise I can only describe as the sound of 10 metal chairs being dragged across rickety wooding floors.
Was this the gallery (Dude, Monsters!) I had gone to see? What the hell had I gotten myself into.
This was not what the trailer had promised me.
The story continues after the break.
Sometimes it just hits you. Maybe it is the fact I just watched 500 days of summer (for the first time.. Don’t judge) or maybe it is because I absolutely love his artwork but damn. Check out the video from Michael Aaron Williams. We have blogged about him before, and I am sure we will blog about him again.
