I have to say I love this Know Hope piece. I have been across the pond (to the EU) – lived there for 5 months (Spain if you forgot), I have been to China, lived with a Taiwanese native through part of high school, and even had a short romance with a girl from (and still in) Russia who I met in Prague. I can tell you that people .. are people and that we are all very very similar. No I am not going to pretend to be the most worldly of travelers, but I like to think I have and can learn from what I experience. That being said I agree wholeheartedly – the concept of ‘us’ and ‘them’ is almost out-dated.
